Autumn Updates for your Wardrobe

Autumn seems to be creeping up on us earlier than we would like, so it’s time to look at at what’s out there in the shops to inject some seasonal umph into tired wardrobes with a few key items that shouldn’t break the bank. It’s all about layering at this time of year, so don’t pack away your summer clothes yet, as we could be in for an Indian summer this September. It’s also  a good idea to wear favourite dresses, tops and separates all year round if they are reasonably light weight. The trick is to add knitwear and heavier, darker coloured  shoes, boots and tights in the colder months so as to get all the year round use out of investment buys. A good knitted shawl or cape in neutral colours , as shown on the left, can smarten a light- weight casual outfit and keep out the autumn chills.

Don’t forget accessories too- they really make all the difference to the style and elegance of an outfit. If I want a necklace for a client to add style and class to their wardrobe,  these days, we head straight to  Phase Eight which has the most elegant wearable necklaces on the High  Street, not to mention lovely boots and shoes. I love their new work wear dresses with suggested coordinating accessories. See the pictures below  for a few of my favourite picks from the store or on line. You can’t go wrong in the workplace wearing any of these pieces and wear them at the weekend too with flat boots, thick tights and some denim for a dress down look.
